what the best way to get smell of smoke out my mk1 punto the previous owner was a heavy smoker and i just cant seem to get rid of the smell i mean there is ask coming out the heaters and everything

Well youll need to give the whole car a goin over as the source of the smell could be under the seats, steering column etc and would of penetrated everythin.
Give the car a full vacuum attach a straw to the vac end to get in the vents
Wet vac all seats, carpets & cloth materials
if you dont have a wet vac then get a good interior cleaner such as autoglym interior cleaner or trade versions super interior cleaner/clean all.
spray Autoglym odour remover on to carpets, mats, seats , inside air vents etc apply every hour untill smell has been removed.
A air con cleaner such as carplan air-con cleaner/ Autoglym Air Con Sanitizer
then finally a good car air freshner sprayed into the vents/car

If you need any more info just let me know.

bicarbonate of soda is awesome at getting rid of smells from upholstery and carpets, it may be an idea to try it....just chuck it over the carpets and seats like shake n' vac and leave it overnight.

pure lemon juice is good at getting rid of fag smoke smells too, that would work well on the plastic bits.

good luck.

Place Charcoal (yep the BBQ stuff) in containers inside the car all over and it'll suck all the smells right out!
charcoal is used in respirators for real bad chemicals removes all the bad stuff.
Works fantastic for fridges also. (y)

if you can borrow a steam cleaner put the heating on recirc, max heat, max fan, ac on if you have it and blast lots of steam into the recirc air inlet. You should get a lot of crap out that way. the steamer and apc is good for the headlining too.
