Small problems with head unit..........

I've just fitted myself a cd head unit into my Bravo. Works fine apart from sometimes when the ignition is turned off and back on it forgets everything - where it is on the current track, radio stations and tone settings. But sometimes its fine and remembers everything. Also, sometimes when I switch the ignition on, the unit won't turn on at all, until I switch the ignition off then back on again and the CD unit will function again.

Not really sure whats going on here, the unit is straight out of my stepmums car where it functioned perfectly.

Thanks for any help,

Craig Sudron.

For some reason, in the Bravo the ACC and Perminant live wires are backwards (colour wise)

You need to swap the yellow & red wires around at the back of the head-unit...

All your other problems maybe related, but i would sort this out first and see what happens...

Something similar happens to me in my bravo and also in my dad's merc C200 - When turn ignition off and take key out with my head unit it forgets track position and sound settings (bass, mid range, hi etc) but remembers the radio stations.

In my dad's it forgets everything (radio stations too) - is this both to do with the type of headunit i.e. if it has full memory or something or with car?

Cos in both merc and bravo seems to cut power to head unit when key is taken out whereas on my old punto you could still turn head unit on when key is removed . . .?

Probably the same as above then, with the ACC and Perminant wire's need switching...

My old Kenwood used to remember the radio settings, but nothing else...

So after you change the red and yellow wires around your head unit remembered everything?

Yep :)

There's a section in the Bravo-Guide which may help you if your stuck...

Right let me jus get this straight so I dont blow up my head unit or something - with the two plastic plugs (that plug into the back of my head unit) with all the different colour wires coming out: I should switch the wires round so that the red wire goes into the yellow wire's hole and vice versa?

Jus plug it back into head unit and it should work?
