Hey guys,

got a Fiat Punto 1.2 (54 Plate). I got the standard speakers and radio in it.

I am looking to buy a stereo that plays an Ipod. I am planning on buying a 50 watt stereo.

I was just wondering whether anyone knows the sizes of the speakers that I have now and the depth of them so I can shop around on the internet before pulling them out.

Thanks

Best off posting this one in the ICE section of the forum.
They are the audio specialists.. but which speakers are you looking to replace? Front door speakers or the rear ones?

Why are you replacing them?
Best off getting yourself a 400w sub and some tweeters for a Punto tbh. Small car for optimum and loud audio only needs this!

I personally replaced the back rear speakers due to one being blown for some cheapy 10inchers from halfrauds. Literally, a tenner. Although the didn't fit perfectly in depth, I twisted them round a bit and only screwed in two screws rather than the factory standard of four (but tight mind you!) and they have sounded perfect. Took me about half and hour to sort out acoustics ect via head unit/amp tweaking but couldnt ask for a better sound now.

Secondly, i would recommend this stereo.

I've got it in my Punto and its great. I use my 8gb nano mainly on it which it gives amazing functionality. you can use the head unit to flick between tracks ect and search for artists, albums ect or, if you want to use the ipod to control the music you can aswell! (option included in stereo's menu). It even works on my iPhone 3Gs as well, but not on my iPhone 3g. It also charges all the above when they are plugged in via usb!
The colour change feature is actually rather unique. You can change the colour depending on your mood! And it has good audio changing options, allowing loads of features including high and low gain amp outputs ect.

And, those cheapy speaker i mentioned.. -

Read the reviews on them! (ones by me!).
Ill take a pic of my boot install later and show you what ive done. I've tried recording a video form sitting inside the car before as an audio test but teh bass frequency rips though my cameras speakers and it just sounds like one great big giant fart! Ill try do one later from outside the car with mid range volume, then you can decide!

The head unit ive mentioned was actually my second choice. I purchased a Sony iphone head unit last year and had it installed in my previous Punto. I wanted the same one which i thought was the ultimate for playing ipod music through, but this JVC has changed my mind. JVC is cheaper, gives equal sound quality and has extra features. Only main benefit of the Sony was the blue tooth phone feature for perfect handsfree calling.. only the microphone was a little quiet when i think back and it doesnt compare to my current belkin hands free jobby -

Let us know what you decide to do! :slayer:

And the actual aftermarket rear speakers bought cheapy from halfrauds...

I personally prefer the not so obvious 'quality' driven sound system nowadays.. a big change from my first ever set up ..!!..!!...
.

and even my second!!...
