My 1.4 Tipo has developed an annoying irregular fast ticking from the indicators. It doesnt do it when im actually using the indicators to signal left or right or when the hazzard lights are on, and all the bulbs are fine. I confirmed the ticking is definitely coming from the indicators as it stopped when i removed the fuse. Can anyone please advise me what to do.

Sorry about puttin it in the latest news bit... As soon as i sent it i realised it was in the wrong bit. No theyre not flashing faster. Indicators working fine but when not in use they carry on ticking away at twice the speed. Sometimes constant and sometimes intermittant. Weired!

My old car used to do that ...did it for years as I never bothered to get it fixed!!!!!!!
Changing the flasher unit should do it though.

Is it one flasher unit for the whole system or one for each indicator i.e front R & L rear R & L? (four)

are you sure its the flasher unit that keeps on ticking, sure its not a little stone stuck in the tyre tread

had exactly this problem.....unfortunately it is caused by a fault in the multi purpose arm ...the cure is replacement...it is quite a common fault apparently,my dealer kept a few in stockfor this reason.try a breakers but test before you buy...fitting takes about ten minutes.

problems with the headlight and indicator arm are common. there are differences with the arms for cars with and without an air bag in the steering wheel. they are interchangable but you will end up with the switch very close to or very far away from the wheel if you use the different one

Had same problem.
Remove the multiswitch arm. take it apart, is easy to dissmantle. Clean it, see if solder bits have mixed with the grease, clean the contacts, put it all back it shouldn't tick any more.
It worked with mine.

Thanks for the replies... except the mindless comments by Dave The Procrastinator (Prat). New flasher unit solved the problem.
