General sick cinquecento abarth

afternoon all,

first post! I have a lovely 95N Fiat Cinq Sporting with the full abarth body kit and wheels, which has been in the family since new. She however has suddenly stopped working! There is fuel in the car, the engine is fine, she has had a new alternator and the battery is fully charged, the starter is fine. However when I turn the key she just turns over with no spark on the plugs (have tried the emerg start up using brown key), she wont bump start either - I fear it could be an ECU problem. I dont think it is fuel line as I can hear the carb filling, and I have used the brown key so I dont think its an immobiliser... any ideas?

Please help - the car has been with us since new, she is in great condition and I dont want to lose her to something so silly as an ECU. Please help!

Also I found the original factory alloys in the garage - these have never been used and are in absolute untouched immac condition - any ideas what they may be worth? I may have to sell for repairs!!!

Hi welcome to the forum

Symptons sound like a faulty Top Dead Centre sensor to me. Without the TDC (often called Crank sensor) the ECU cannot work out what posisition the engine is in, therefore it won't spark or inject fuel.

The TDC sensor sits near the auxilary drive pulley on the timing end of the engine. If you look underneath the car and up at the pulley, you'll see the sensor in its bracket cast on the block.

There is a plug on the cable, follow from the sensor and check that it is properly plugged in. If it is, then try removing it (10mm bolt i think then wiggle the sensor free) clean it up and refit it.

If it is faulty, they're not *that* pricey to replace
