When pulling away in first gear I'm getting a slight shudder and thudding noise coming from the front os. My test is due before the eleventh, any idea what this is and if it will fail?

Check front and rear wishbone bushes for movement, especially on the O/S, use a pry bar to see if there is undue movement. There could also be play in the track rod ends.

could it be an engine mount?

If it were suspension based I would imagine it would be obvious more often than just pulling away. When our ARB bushes were shot the thing rattled and banged over every bump on the road.

If you give it more revs when you pull away does it stop happening?

If so it could be (Dual mass) flywheel/clutch.

More revs doesnt make any difference but the faster the car goes the faster the shudder then it dissapears.

Ive just replaced the arb bushes and drop links.

It wasn't the wishbone. I've checked the engine mounts and they seem to be okay but they are incased in metal. When reving the engine the engine movement is about one and a half to two inches. I'll be checking the crank pully suggestion from Peat tomorrow.
