I had my car service by a non fiat mechanic at the weekend. He told me that my plug leads were well worn and should probably get some new ones.
When he started my car it kept cutting out once it went below 2000 rpm and the key code light came on.
Eventually after a few attempts the car would not start at all. Result being i had to tow it to my fiat dealer to have them look at it. After two days of them working on it the car is back running. They said the problem was the wrong plug leads caused the car to cut out at low rpm, this inturn led to the leads sparking causing a short out of the code box. The total cost of the repairs was 600 euro (Ireland) and this included getting my key plus a new spare coded - not a new ecu or code box. I know main dealers are expensive but have i been done????
