I suppose the title should say boots, being the amateur I am I forgot about break shoes... not good eh.. :p
Aaaanyway!
I think it's about time my Teapot had some pretty pretty sparkly new wheels and I really haven't a clue what'd suit him. At the moment he's wearing the boots he was bought in... they used to be silver, but the paint has kinda peeled off over the years and now they're a really grubby white-grey colour and are letting the car down immensely!
Anybody know where I can get some nice looking, preferably black, and not so expensive alloys from? That aren't anything too over the top, just make the car look rather trick (y)
Oh, and EVERY scrapyard I go to, there are never any Tipos! I'm in dire need of a sunroof as mine leaks somewhat and it's not very nice to have a cold shower every time you go round a corner :p
I've tried the garage my car was originally from (Platts in Longton, Stoke) which isn't even a Fiat garage anymore and they tell me Tipo parts are like golddust and I should just break the car. No no no!
So i'm at a loose end. Anywhere reccomended?
Thanks people :D

The sunroof can be replaced by an aftermarket one. Look up sunroof companies in your area.

Fiat charge £500 for a new one - or was it £1,000 - when I asked !

Where is it leaking? If I can get my sunroof drains unblocked I will fit a pristine one I got off Dazzo and give away my old one which certainly doesn't leak if you want, I'll let you know.

ha, I forgot all about the 'bay... mind you, I think last time I checked my account had been suspended :shakehead
I'm not quite sure exactly where the sunroof is leaking, I think it's just that all the seals have rotted away and it gathers water inside the little wells underneath the glass (inside the car) that tips out onto my head at random intervals... or just leaks all over the seats.
I've got it duck taped up at the moment and it seems to have stopped but I really don't want to ruin the paintwork or anything, i've never seen another Tipo the same colour as Franco so I don't think i'd be able to find paint anywhere...

The seals are available seperately. You need to search the net for companies who supply them. Ive come across a couple of companies sometime back, but cant remember where i found them. Maybe was under classic car parts.
Paint can be mixed by a local auto paint outlet. Just take the fuel flap off your car and take it to them. they will be able to scan the paint and mix it and stick it in spray cans. Dont bother with Halfrauds, they are useless.

Andy.

£100 though... bit steep for used alloys? Depends on quality of the tyres I guess.

They are OZ wheels, so are well made unlike some of the wheels on sale new for £400-£500 inc tyres!! My mate runs a tyre outlet, and tells me he is forever trying to balance these cheap alloys as the buckle so easily. He mentioned OZ, BBS, and the wheels on Porches [forgot the name] as amongst the best.

Whoops, seems i've missed those wheels :(
Sort of thing I was after anyways... I might just nip down to B&Q for some black spray paint and see what I can do..!

Right about BBS alloys though, have some on the VR - they look the buisness and are extremely well made, nothing ever been wrong with them over the 2 years they've been on the car. Had some from I think 'Team Dynamics' on before and they buckled into 50p shapes!

Got a friend with nice chrome BK wheels on his Coupe. Only a few months old, and the chrome is bubbling with rust from underneath coming through. Ive told him to get them checked and changed under warranty. You dont get that with BBS wheels. And the split BBS wheels are really the dogs bo**cks (y)
When/if you paint your wheels, make sure you key the surface with some wet&dry.

Very similar to these on the golf (but 5 studs and a bit more, erm, 'sunken'?)

i put 16 inch o.z superturismos on mine, lookin sweeeeet. cost 6oo notes but its worth it

on the sunroof, the Tipo I just sold the sunroof had rusted in the corners near the drainholes, I filled then primed and painted, solved the problem and hopefully will last the life of the car, dunno if this is the same problem you have.

It's possssible!
Before I got my Tipo it'd been standing in a friend's drive for around a year, however alls I could find problems with were the windscreen wipers (which had rotted away) and the tyres were slightly cracked. I'll check tomorrow :)

Wellll I tried painting the wheels... i'm not even going to post the results here :p alls I can say is i'm now in desperate need of alloys! Oops.
Got a bit sidetracked this weekend too and bought a Doblo (for work purposes)... nifty little car. Just hope that doesn't signify anything depressing! :D
