Shell optimax..............anyone use it?

try Evo mag

Evo magazine did a long term test using it in 3 various cars, a Jag XJR, a Lotus 340R and something else i can't remember, maybe a Civic Type-R.
Was in last months issue, but affraid i didn't get it.

to the max

i always use it in my 1.8 hlx i can not notice the difference but its only 4p a litre extra and im sure its probably better for your engine. thats marketing getting extra money out of us, but i say use it!

Re: to the max

I used it on me HGT - was ok , nothing special, prefer
the Esso Superunleaded , really improves pull
through the rev range.

Shell Optimax

I've used it on my HGT and it makes alot of difference, the car performs much better. I would swear by it.

Trouble is, i've only found one petrol station that does it in my neck of the woods and everyone uses it.

Barstools.

Optimax NO!

Firslty you will only notice the difference in a VVT engine, which only comes on the HGT 2.0. Anyone who has noticed a difference has noticed it psychologically and not in reality.

Secondly, the fuel is crap over time. I have tried it over two 1,000 mile experiments and found that initially the performance was good but then to the end of the final tank the performance had steadily reduced below that of normal unleaded.

Switching back to Esso Super returns the performace after the second fill.

I like, mentioned earlier, use Esso Super all the time in my HGT and standard Esso in the SX.
