Question for Scrogg (as you seem to be an authority on 500 related matters...)

I looked at servicing packages. Why are prices far higher for the 1.2 petrol than the 1.4 petrol and 1.3 diesels? :mad:

I have a 500 Sport 1.2 on order for delivery in May. I've already done the shopping list @ factory options, and doing the shopping @ dealer options as we speak. :) And there's the servicing and insurance to deal with next! :confused:

My dealer is updating me on status from time to time. The last time I heard was it was status 10, about 2 weeks ago. Can you shed light on the status mystery? :worship:

Thanks for shedding light on this little query. Now, shall I buy that 3-yr package for £711 or have it serviced when its schedule states? It will be interesting to know how much it actually came to, if I had it serviced individually, over 3 yrs. I guess the local dealers (four within a 20-mile radius of home) will come up with different figures.
 
I can't see the point in paying for the services up from... especially at £700 odd (you won't be savibng much, if anything). For a 1.2 city car the servicing is rediculously expensive :( Even a 1.2 VW Fox is £200 for 3 years servicing :rolleyes:

The cost of the servicing is far too high without doubt. Ask the dealers you are all using if they have their own service plans. I'll bet they are much cheaper and will not invalidate the warranty.

I wouldn't say I'm an authority (I've only been with Fiat since last October, and haven't got a clue when it comes to technical questions about engines and stuff :eek: ) but I do seem to be one of only two dealership staff that (regularly, anyway) posts on here...

And we don't actually know any more than every other dealership in the country (although Beast has told me his Sales Manager doesn't give him much information :( ) so I suppose the difference is we are enthusiasts as well, and actually go out of our way to make sure everything we do know is passed on to you guys.
 
On the Grandes, all petrol engines need plugs every 18k miles, but the 1.2 also have mechanical valve clearences to adjust, which takes up a fair bit of time and therefore costs more cash to do, however I think its every 36k on those, could be something to do with it?

Scrogg's the one who brings in alot. I just remember what I've already seen here.
 
It's great that scrogg and beasty post on here. It's refreshing to see, shows that you share the same, if not more, enthusiasm for the subject and does a lot to increase peace of mind amongst those (and I speak for myself) of us who are new to buying new and buying Fiat!

And it probably increases your customer base as well eh?;)

I agree. It shows genuine enthusiasm for the product and it is reassuring to know that questions will be answered by someone in the know and if they don't know will do their best to find out.

To be honest, it doesn't really, but that's not why I do it.

I still post regularly on MINI2 despite not having worked for MINI for over 12 months, and a Ford forum despite not having worked for them since 2005.

The reason I do it (apart from having no life away from the Internet! :p ) is because I get satisfaction from knowing that all this useless information I have accumulated over the past 11 years might actually be useful to some people.
 
the completely ridiculous servicing costs in one reason that although I really want a 500, I currently wont be getting one...

Its of no interest to me that valves need adjusting, spark plugs need changing, all i know is that it costs more than most cars!
