Service Rip Off!!

Service Rip Off!!

If buying private, a quick technical chat about the car will tell me how well it's breen serviced. I'd rather a seller who has done the work himself and knows the job and when it's needed to be done, rather than a garage stamp from someone who might have been rushing the job.

I've been going to Grays for years, on the whole very impressed by them and if there has been a problem they've rectified it for me. Only bought my new Panda from Colliers because they were willing to do it substantially cheaper than Grays but I'm buggered if I'll take it back there for servicing.

Also very unimpressed with Redditch garage, particulalry useless and uninterested in their customers.

Grays read this forum so they should be pleased with the comments. Well almost --I too went elsewhere for a car purchase because they were almost £1.5K adrift on the price.
Service team are very knowledgeable and they should be , theyve been doing it for years - not like the multifranchise, here today gone tomorrow types of dealer we see elsewhere.

Re: Dealer/Service Rip Off!!

All Dealers are the same once they have your money, my local took full payment 5 days prior to collection (paid with this funny old thing called a cheque)for a new punto and six weeks later:eek: it still had not appeared. Only when I walked in during a busy Sunday morning shouting (in front of customers) that I was going to the Police to report it as fraud, the car finally appeared within days.

My new scudo has just gone in for its first service (1800) and the bill was £266 (more than my insurance)just for a stamp in the book along with new oil filter,4.5 litres of oil and a pollen filter! Even Fiat class this as a small service, better start saving up for the next one. Only went back to them because they could fit me in at very short notice, judging from the price I can see why.

Anyone used Prestige car service (see advert above) rates seem reasonable.:)

they use local garages & take a cut from that so basically all they appear to do is arrange the service.

advert states that they guarantee 50% less than dealer price....they list a grande punto service for £179+oil+long life plugs which would be around £220..considering my local does it for £145 they should do it for £72.50;)

Does anyone have any dealings/knowledge with Oldham Fiat?
(previously Stoneacre I think).

Considering my 1st service on 1.3MJ Dynamic with 10k on the clock, hope to get the lower mileage service..

A bit concerned about many threads that my car might come out with more faults/dinges on it than when it went in!!
