Hello
Just about to purchase a HGT Bravo - T Reg - 1999 - 79000 miles from a trade car centre.
Sold with full service history which I have seen, but last serviced at 68000 miles, so now due.
Not sure about cam belt replacement, but will get this done if necessary.
I am looking for a good fiat repair garage near Selby in North Yorkshire.
Also, outside of a fiat main dealer, what could i realistically expect to pay for a full cam belt change with tensioners & a full service.
I've seen some horrendous figures quoted in these forums.
Any replys would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Its not expensive to do the cambelt on a 1.6 - you are looking at around £75 for the parts (inc tensioner) and maybe 3 hours labour?

Jonathan

It should have had a cambelt change by now, if it hasn't then it needs one IMMEDIATELY!

HGT belt changes are not cheap, be prepared to pay £500-800 depending where you go.

What the hell, i am sure i read you had a 1.6 not a HGT!

Yes HGT = very expensive

I must be getting old.

Jonathan

Yeah, the word expensive keeps cropping up!!
Does anyone know how long a cambelt & tensioner change on a HGT 155 should take.
I know the parts arn't that expensive.
Just trying to guage the labour rates.

Thanks

Cheers Pete.
I've had a quote of £800.00 from a local fiat dealer.
If parts cost about £150, that means that they are charging about £80.00 inc vat, hourly labour rate.
How difficult a job is it to do for a non fiat specialist garage.

Selby eh Neil. Welcome to the forum (so long as yours aint broom Yellow like mine) ;)

I'm in York and mines a HGT too.
Shortlist of Garages, I've found so far.
Short on knowledge where to find fiat Dealers, even travelled to Williamson's at Driffield to begin with! Replaced all my locks needlessly, cos later realised myself, steering lock was to blame. Need I say more.

Next nearest to me, inspite of living selby side of York, is Fiat Picadilly@Ripon (because I work the other side of York). For a dealer,I'd recommend them I guess. The last guy who dealt with my 48K seemed real genuine, so faith in dealers restored somewhat since.

But a dealer will charge what Fiat expect, so took mine to (former Alpha specialist) Kershaws (on advice from fellow BOO)just short of Stamford Bridge on the Brid road, to get my Cambelt, tensioner and Waterpump done.

Told the guy at kershaws I was aware that the engine could be moved aside, rather than dropped clear out, which may not make the job any easier, but certainly reduces the time required to complete the task.

I did have some other bits replaced too. But for the cambelt, waterpump, and tensioner, your looking at about £400 (inc.Vat)

Wanted a thorough check over for my 48K service though, so took it back to Picadilly since I had no record of a Dealer ever having serviced the car. As it happens, Picadilly also take their motors to Kershaws, for tuning I think, since they have a rolling road there too.

York eh!!
Hi Nico
Thanks for an interesting reply.
Do you have any contact details & a full address for Kershaws.
£400 inc vat seems good to me.
The HGT i've bought is heraldic blue.
Used to have a marea HLX 2.0 l.
The 20l 20v engine in my opinion is a classic.
I'm picking my car up tomorrow hopefully.

Thanks

Hi
just found address details for Kershaws.
Will ring tomorrow.

Thanks
