Technical Service Intervals - 18.000 Miles or How Many Months.

My car has the 18,000 mile service intervals, I was wondering if it's still 12montly.

And before anybody says RTFM in the usual helpfull manner, it's at home, I'm not.

it does need servicing every year, there is a 'low mileage' service available though which is essentially an oil change

try the search Marck as there was some talk of later cars being relaxed to a 2 year service; best check with your dealer though as you wouldn't want them to decline a warranty claim on teh basis you had missed servicing

My dealer told the other day that it's 12 months or 18000 miles, whichever comes first - he said it's then 12 monthly after that. He also told me to make sure they stamp my book for proof or it will effect the warranty, so I'd go back and get a stamp Lloyd if you can.

Lloyd, when the service is carried out the computer is set back to 18,000 miles but should count down from there for every mile that you have travelled since then.

E.G. If you have done 1500 miles since the service the reading should now display 16,500 miles.

Not strictly true. You have two options to keep your warranty intact.

If you don't do 18k miles a year you can either have a low mileage service and then you need to have the full service at 18k or 2 years (whichever is first) or you can just have the full service every 12 months.

My book says 18k or 2 years whichever comes first, my dealer says 18k or 2 years whichever comes first...do you think perhaps some dealers are drumming up business by telling people to come in earlier tha that? Also block exemption means that fiat dealers do not need to do the servicing to keep the warranty intact - it can be done by any professional garage as long as they use genuine fiat parts and keep to the manufacturers agreed schedule...but i guess that is another thread....

The manual also says "If the car is used in cities or less than 10k miles a year, change the engine oil and filter every 12 months."

We still won't of have doen 18k at year 2. It had a low mileage service at 1yr. Now do I have the full 18k or full 36k service at 2 yrs? Presuming the more expensive 36k.

It's 18k miles or 2 years, whichever comes first.
