can you buy service history stamps? because when you service the car yourself you obviously dont stamp the book to say its been serviced, therefore not having service history which loses value on the car. so can you buy stamps so you can stamp it when you service it? because surely the money you save on servicing it your self will be lost when you sell the car without service history? thanks! :)

Dont think you can buy stamps, people who tend to service themselves, well people i know tend to make notes on back of receipts etc to validate it has had a service

Not as far as I am aware. The best thing to do if you really want to keep a record is go to one of the many stationary shops and get a date ink stamp and pad, and just stamp your book and write in what's been done etc.... At least you still have a record to show what you've done.

Just my thoughts anyway.....

yeah im thinking i could get the reciepts and staple them together and staple them to the service page for each year? :) - good idea apple.

Do that. So long as you have something rather than nothing would surely help at resale :)

Service stamps are usually the name of the garage who carries out a routine service and along with the stamp the mileage and some notes iff needed would be written in the appropriate page of the service book.

It's swings and roundabouts, usually only the higher end cars benefit from full dealer history since they are more complicated and costly to fix if not maintained properly, the more humdrum cars are quite simple to carry out oil and filter and such like.

That's really the point with service stamps, is proof the proper garage has carried out the work. As has been said, a date stamp and signature and a brief statement of work (with receipts for parts/labour) is better than nothing.

I produced a perfect stamp effect on a single service record for my old Vectra. My Epson inkjet worked perfectly. I practised about 20 blank sheets until it fitted perfectly in the box on the original. Naughty but very satisfying.
