Simple question, is it really worth the price tag attached to this oil?

As far I can see, the 1.4 T-Jet requires Selenia K PE 5W40.

Cheapest I've found is this; http://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Results&keywords=S4P5809

Just to confirm, it's the correct oil for my car? Cause it keeps coming up with "MultiAir" which my car is not!

For £35 it seems a lot. I know I can get my trusty Castrol GTX for £20 a tub and it's been a really good to me so far in my cars.

Someone persuade me to purchase this oil other than "cause it say's so in the book" :p

Many thanks :)

i always insist the correct oil is used, the T-Jet engine is in quite a high state of tune so the oil has a hard life

it is the oil that was used to develop and durability test the engine

would you fit non-genuine spark plugs or timing belt?

I'd say there is no cheap FIAT 9.55535-S2 oil specification.

And you need only 3 liters for your car.

And I think there is no better oil on the market at the moment.

I personally use shell helix ultra 5w-40, that's pretty much the best oil you're going to get, buy it online though, it's a lot cheaper than in the garages.

Personally I wouldn't use cheap stuff and the shell oil also has that fiat approval code or whatever it is in the post above me.

Why won't you use cheap stuff? Other than the name to you actually check all the other details on the bottle.

I've nothing wrong with people wanting to use branded oil if they want to out of personal preference, but don't start putting off 'cheap' oil unless you've a particular reason.

Regular oil changes with 'cheaper' oil will do your engine better than infrequent oil changes with expensive oil.

I agree with your last point completely, and my reasoning to not liking cheap oil is that I used asdas own when I first got the car, it ran okay but the oil burnt up over the miles, and when I switched to shell because there was an offer of which it came with a free filter. I noticed I hadn't lost as much oil when I checked it and weather you claim it's a placebo or not the car just felt nicer to drive.

It's the same as petrol really, it's all from the same refinery but the car will drive smoother on shell that it did that tesco rubbish.

So much information!

I'm not sure what to do now...

I've got these few options as well;

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60166-f...-engine-oil-bmw-mercedes-porsche-vw-more.aspx

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-69392-castrol-magnatec-5w-40-c3-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/F...gineoils/5w40-engine-oil/?521772211&0&cc5_248

Which both meet Fiats requirement. But is there any point in mucking about with different oils when I can buy the proper Selenia for an extra £2 over Fuchs

The Shell is rated at "Z2" rather than "S2" hmm...

As for spark plugs, I was just going to get some NGK iridium sparks as I always have done, again, would there be any difference going with OEM and ringing Fiat for them?

Thanks for the responses so far!

Fair point made there :)

Is there any issues with using OEM spec Iridium NGK spark plugs and a Gates timing belt? I thought aslong as the stock codes matched and you used quality branded names it wouldn't matter so much.

If I'm honest, I wouldn't think twice if I were fitting NGK/ Bosch sparks? Would it matter if it wasn't Fiat Genuine parts?

Same again, would fitting a quality branded timing belt really make a huge difference vs a Fiat genuine one?

Not being funny at all, genuinely interested :)

those you mention are all top brands so will meet or exceed factory oem specifications. i was meaning 'pattern' items from lesser known brands.

however it is safest to fit fiat brand genuine unless you are really certain you have selected exactly the right item (y)

No.

That's true, but see my post above. Shell Helix Ultra AT-L 5W-40 has Fiat S2 specification.

You would not to get some NGK, but NGK IKR9F8 (old spec 55210685) or NGK IKR9J8 (new spec 55249868). In your owners manual you will find NGK IKR9F8, so why do you think that NGK produce two spark plugs for T-Jets/MultiAirs for Fiat with one specification, and for other with different specification for non Fiat?

On original spark you will find eper number and FPT logo

as on picture

As other car parts, someone produce parts for Fiat, for example filters (purflux, ufi, ...)

Seems like your worrying a bit too much about this :D
The shell oil is some of the best, (imho) as for sparks I would go with oem if you can find them which iirc are ngk iridiums. If you want though some denso's would be nice

Even if you do use cheapo oil as long as it's 5w-40 it will be fine just might burn a bit quicker and be a little less smooth that a good namd oil (again id like to point that that is personal experience and not fact :) )
Don't forget the oil filter too

Using ebay and putting 'grande punto tjet' on the end of any of your searches for sparks or oil filters will help you out a lot :p

What’s the OE oil fill for a FIAT engined Chrysler, Citroen, Ford, Peugeot, Saab, Suzuki … etc etc?

021710Z

The chrysler has a 1.2 fire so I'm imagining it to be the exact same as the 1.2 GP, which is 5w-40 fully synthetic, 3 liters to the max mark iirc

My point is they won't be on Selenia as OE fill.
