Hello everyone!

I bought a Lancia/Autobianchi Y10 with the Selecta gearbox and the gearbox itself works fine. But the selector is really difficult to operate. The button is hard to press and the lever gets stuck in each step when selecting gears. It never transitions smoothly. And I feel the resistance is in the selector itself, I don't feel as if it's in the gearbox. It all feels very plasticky.

How could I fix it? What could the problem be?
Thank you!

I have just purchased a Punto Selecta and find the shift lever is stiff to engage Drive or Reverse, so I would be interested to know from anyone who has a similar model if this is normal. It does seem quite obstructive, however it's fine going from D to L or R to P.
