Last thursday i took off for work in a little bit of a rush, got about 3 miles down the road and wondered why my car was a bit sluggish, pulling to the right and smelling like burning pads... that'll be the handbrake locked on then...

managed to get it sorted out with a large set of pliers - seems that the cold wet weather and salt from the roads has caused the cable to internally rust, and stick inside its housing - will go on but wont come off again... (all happened overnight - no advance warning).

have replaced it now (easy job, wet arse) but thought I'd post a note in case anyone else suffered the same problem, as I was convinved my caliper was buggered for about 20 minutes (and was thinking £hundreds to repair instead of the £13 for a new cable)
