Hi there I'm new to this forum (and old), I searched on forum for this and kept getting message Subject not found.

Basically my 2012 Ducato 130 needs its injectors needs changing. 2 have come out but 2 are seized and likely to break. The garage is calling in a thread doctor to get them out.

I've read on other forums that this is a big problem. The garage has advised that its the reaction of dis-similar metals in contact, leading to corrosion.

On the assumption that eventually the bolts will be removed, has anybody researched using stainless steel replacement bolts of even studs, thus curing the problem.

Any advice gratefully received.

One of the first maintenance jobs on my van was to remove the injector clamp bolts, apply ceramic grease to the threads and refit them to 22Nm - torque reduced from Fiat spec due to use of anti-seize.


I remove, treat and refit them annually (y)
 
I've never torqued injector retaining bolts, just done them up tight, but not to tight and with a big blob of copper grease.

Oh yea, and the injectors also get a good coating of copper grease .

Any stainless steel bolt you'd find would probably have a lower tensile and shear strength. Stainless is also more cathodic than steel so could accelerate galvanic corrosion. Can't go wrong with ceramic antiseize.

Mine has studs, and keep coming loose, that's why I have to replace head and lots of other bits.
