Hey I was at the mechanic the other week getting a couple of new tyres and he told me that my "top mounts" were completely worn and I should get them replaced. He called the parts dealer to try get some but they said they were dealer only parts so they couldn't.
I should have got him to write down exactly the part that I needed but all I know is it's the top mounts, does it sound right that these top mounts would be the rubber mounts at the top of the suspension? Is there an easy way for me to tell if these are worn?
The reason being that I had a look on EBay and found some of these parts for ~£30 each and was hoping to just buy a couple and take them into a mechanic to have fitted.
On a side not - I also have a weird knocking noise coming from the front left of the car when I take my foot off the accelerator while doing over about 20mph. It's a constant knocking until I put my foot back on it. Do you think that these top mounts could be the cause of that?
Also if anyone can recommend somewhere to get this fixed in London (preferably close to W4) that would be great.
Cheers
