Technical Seicento possible ecu problems

Thanks ming i checked and cleaned every ground i could find but no difference.

Working on it yesturday i found out a few more things, it seems to get worse the hotter it gets.
Also i think i have found the culprit wire. Its a green/white wire wrpped with a blue/grey wire which is the same wires that run to the iac. If i hold this wire still whilst the engine is running perfect aand move the rest of the loom there is no change, but if i just move this wire it starts acting up badly.

Fingers how could i replace the connection?

The ecu btw is the 4af.m7

Thanks

Chris

Hi Just an update

This car is still of the road as I have not been able to get another loom. It seems that the 4af m7 ecu is fairly rare in the Seicento? There seems to be no specific date were Fiat switched to the mini ecu. I have obtained a loom from a mini ecu as these are common, is it possible to wire this into the connector?
My other option is to just get a complete mini ecu, loom, lock set etc and be done with it. The car already has 3 keys to open doors, fuel filler and ignition barrel!
What a mess!
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Chris

Pics of the ECU, fer christ's sake. One minute you have a micro ECU, the next you don't.............

I'm still not convinced that the ECU is at fault.

If woggling the connector does the job, it has to be either the connector, a short run of harness or the connector to ECU interface.

Mk2 Puntos also had ther micro ECU, although there may be minor differences.

I apologise for being unclear.
I do not have the micro ecu, I have the 4af m7.
I know the problem is not with the ecu, but with the loom. I found many damaged wires on the loom hence the replacement.
The ecu is not the original as the previous owner fried it by jumping the car incorrectly. This also blew the iac motor I believe, the throttle body has been replaced too.

Now, my problem is with locating a loom for my type of ecu (not micro) however I am having trouble finding one as they seem very rare!

I hope this clears things up and my thought process!

Thanks

Chris

There are more 4AF ecus out there than the MF59 type so a loom should not be hard to source. Some thing like 2002 onward, all models except Schumacher.

Thanks for all your help so far.

Things have however taken an interesting turn... My friend decided to cut his loses and just scrap the car as it had been sat for the last 2 months! I couldn't bear to see a perfect rust free sei get scrapped so I offered him £250 for it and now I own the car (he payed £900 back in August!)

So now I have the car parked up in the garage and I don't know what to do with it! I would like to take all the good bits off it and put them on my aging cinq. Or I could fix it and sell it, not to keen on investing in it though.
What do you guys think?
I would love to put the engine into my cinq, how difficult would it be to convert an mpi to spi?

Thanks

Chris

Thanks fingers, it is something id like to do. I would probably use a different head like you suggest or revive the mpi. Would be nice to have an mpi cinq with obd2 :)

I know best thing financially is to fix it in the short run. However my cinq is in need of new trailing arms and suspension parts, plus a few other minor things that are going to cost a lot. Id love to keep my cinq going for as long as possible which is why im thinking of using the parts.
Problem is it just feels such a waste of a rust free and undersealed sei. Would anyone buy an almost complete sei? For a track day car or project?

Thanks

Chris

My thoughts exactly blu, i love the look of the sei and some of the updated features etc. But theres something about a cinq, iv had mine for two years now and put over 40k miles on it, i think its still in excellent condition but wear and tear of the parts are starting to take its toll and im getting worried about being able to afford it (even though it has still never failed an mot!)
This would bail me out for at least another year or two when hopefully i will be able to maintain it.
But as i said that sei chassis is perfect and would hate for it to go to waste!

Chris

I need all suspension components from and back, rear brake drums and housings as mine are rusted badly. i can use the wheels and tires as mine are on the limit.
Thing is the sei in its present state doesn't start or run, as far as most people are concerned its a chunk of galvanized steel.
It would be a cube by now anyway if i hadn't have saved it but now its just taking up my garage space. In the long term taking the good bits is the most cost effective for my car and wallet. Ideally, id like to strip it for all the good bits and sell it with whats left as i reckon it could make a good project for someone.
What do you guys think?

I have been quoted £250 for wiring looms, ecu, locks, keys etc, i could do this but i wouldnt be sure that this would fix the problem, and i would have spent £500 on the car, i think realistically i could sell the car for £800.
This would leave me with £300 profit which im not sure is worth the time and spend?
If i could find the part cheaper then i would be inclined to fix it for sure, maybe keep it for myself.

hmmmm
