29.5 mpg seems rather excessive it also ticksover at possibly twice the expected rate and smells of petrol after a run. Runs well enough new lambda sensor fitted any suggestions as to the problem car has done 21000miles and is 1998 single point injection

as tom says there is a known problem with the cinq/sei tanks.also check for things such as a dragging brake causing low power ,high consumption.how do the spark plugs look?

its an early sei so shouldnt it be in the recall for the fuel tank?
I've got a 1999 899cc Sei SX and I get around 39-40mpg around the city. I used to average about 42mpg, and peaked at about 46mpg. On the motorway, I can get well over 55mpg though.

mines drinking petrol at moment £23 to fill "30 miles out of £23quid!!!
