General Seicento alternator is it easy to fit please help

I have a lovely red Sporting Seicento 1999 but the alternator is making a loud knocking noise my husband is going to replace it, does anyone know how easy they are to replace please? Appreciate any advice.

Its not hugely difficult, although it can be made easier by taking off the engine mount, supporting the engine first.

Are you sure it's the alternator, though? Knocking noise and alternator are not two things I'd immediately associate.

With care (belts and stuff whirring round) a long screwdriver or peice of wood can help isolate where a sound comes from.
