Will a cinq tow bar kit fit a sei ? If not anyone know off anyone selling or where as to i can get one cheap ?

I thought BE was only needed for heavy trailer the Cing or Sei can only tow toy trailers

Confirmed but I think the Sei's allowable tow weights are even lower the Plod will know... doubt if the driving licences restrictions should worry
but you do need to check as VOSA stops are becoming more frequent
I've collected chits from weighbridges as you must have as well and there are covert weighbridges on some M ways...

on a cat b licence I can use a trailer up to 750 kg if I want to town more I can aslong as the combined weight with the vehicle is less than 3500kg ( so I can tow a house!) but im only looking to tow a small trailer for a tent and grub to a camping holiday next year.

Haynes says 400kg unbraked and 450kg braked with a max nose weight of 20-25kg in otherwords a small short box trailer with not alot in it..... or the back end of a cinq ;)

Thats why I havent sold my tow bar yet :p although it wont fit under a abarth rear skirt so every time I tow I have to use standard rear bumper...... or just leave it off completely lol

as been said you will never tow 750 kgs on the back and its combined weight of 3 tonne? , so that means if your in a 2.5 tonne landy , you could tow a half tonne trailer .. ect blah blah blah not get a car that weights 750kgs , and stick a 2.5 tonne trailer on the back

Ive towed a vw golf on the back of the cinq and the ass end wasnt happy lol I also had a 250kg loaded trailer on the back and it wasnt happy, to be honest if you wana tow anything heavy id get yourself a different car to do it

Or risk lifting the front wheels of your car and wrecking it, the tow bar I have is only bolted to the boot floor and across the rear chassis rails so if you put too much weight on your just going to distroy the boot floor and maybe even the chassis rails

Combined weight on a 'new type' licence is 3.5 tonne, the towing vehicle must weigh more then the load its towing and have a combined weight (fully loaded) of no more than 3.5 tonne

Also the trailer cannon be wider then the veicle in front, I.e you will have to use wing mirror extensions/towing mirrors, had this arguement with a traffic officer lol

Although it can be done :)

Well i can tow up to 750... which i aint gonna do. I want a small box trailer for a tent and grub in essence a boot extension. Which is what i can do legaly. Soo what im still wondering is weather a cinq tow bar will fit my sei ? As its expensive for sei and cheap for cinq hahah

Still no lol..... the bumper brackets are part of the cinq tow bar, the bumper brackets on a cinq and sei are different, I think that the sei rear bumper brackets are wider apart (about 2- 4 inches wider apart iirc, im sure with some modifications it would work but then why mess about modding it for the sake of a few quid to get the right tool for the job...

you need to read post #6

VOSA stop people regular

points on liscence... no insurance...

you cant tow 750 kgs legaly on a cento Unless its a braked trailer?

Double checked at work as we are a Ifor Williams dealer...for an unbraked trailer, it can be up to 750kg, trailer itself and load combined, BUT, the towing vehicle MUST have a kerbweight of at least twice the trailer+load weight.

Ie, to tow an unbraked trailer with total weight of 750kg, the vehicle must have a kerbweight of at least 1500kg.

They also said that VOSA are now regularly setting up mobile weighbridges exactly for this, and each vehicle is weighed independently, regardless of the manufacturers specified kerb weight.

After stripping it out, I got my old Cinq down to 620kg....so legally I could only tow 310kg....so after taking off the weight of a trailer....not much payload left.
