Has anyone dealt with a supplier called Ricambi d'Epoca based in Somavilla, northern Italy? I'm looking to do a major parts shipment and just wanting to verify that the dealer is authentic, I found this dealer via facebook and have not come across them previously. He's offering excellent shipping rates to me down under.

they might be the real deal but sometimes when it’s too good ……

Mark @ motobambino I’m sure would only be fair and his prices are as good as the UK can manage. I’ve been know to use Van der Lann in Holland who again do what the tin says. I’m aware there are a number of other easily verifiable parts suppliers, I’m not sure I’d ever take a risk on someone I couldn’t find assurance on but other folks are braver than me.

It doesn't seem to be a commercially registered enterprise. Some private guy on facebook? I would walk away.

When ordering parts from Italy, I have always used either "Passione" or "D'angelo Motori"--I have never had a problem with either Company. In the UK I have used either "Middle Barton Garage" or "Motobambino" or "Ricambio International" (note---RicambIO and NOT RicamBI)---for parts from the Continent in general, I have used "Axel Gerstl" or "Van de Laan 500" or "F D Ricambi". All these Companies have always given me good service with no reason to complain. There are other Companies, and if you want a bigger list, contact me direct--- [email protected] Hope this is of help to you---basically,as others have suggested, if you don't feel comfortable about a Company---walk away.

When buying parts from europe is there any import duty to pay on top?
I bought a sunroof from USA and ended up paying around £150 duty.

All very confusing I find, I have bought a number of items off eBay and direct mainly from Europe. Some items had vat, import duties and transaction fees added, other items no add ons at all, seems a complete mystery.

Thanks for that Zardo. This guy has appeared on my Facebook 'feed' (I think that's the term!) with heaps of photos of what purport to be new-old-stock Fiat parts from a dealer that shut down. When I enquired about a bunch of parts, he was offering me genuine NOS parts at sigificantly lower prices than the reproduction parts from the usual suppliers, but what made me very suspicious was he replied without any delay with a shipping quote to Australia that was ridiculously low (USD 300 for a parcel containing, among other things, a complete floor and two doors). He has a large number of photos of Italian car parts posted for sale on FB over the past 2 months. I decided to test the waters with a small order. he emailed me an invoice (at my request) that has a street address in Poloma, street view shows it to be residential and home to a different car parts bloke https://www.hflanciaspecialparts.com/hflancia/
I asked the guy to put my mind at rest over these discrepancies and suddenly the immediate replies stopped!
So yes I think he is a scammer. In the unlikely even he satisfies my doubts, I'll report back. Perhaps I'll knock on his door next year- I hope to be over there around September.

looks like this other dealer is registered, and if you look at the place from behind, you see some wrecked cars.

It all seems to be very confusing, and not every supplier works the same way! As Peter has mentioned, I am also of the belief that the"threshold" figure is £135 INC. CARRIAGE. Above that figure there is a chance that the supplier does not charge the VAT, but the Courier DOES charge you the VAT + Customs Duties + a handling charge! I have bought from the continent and they have gone through that procedure, but I have also bought from a "well known" continental supplier who HAS charged me the VAT and the parcel "just got delivered" As Peter has pointed out---great idea Brexit wasn't it?
