Well, good to my promises I've sold the Bravo. I got a fairly good price on trade-in, before the car's reputation is completely destroyed by kiddy-racers.

I really did rate the car, until all the kevved (ribzzed?)-up motors started to appear around here.

I'd advise anyone with a standard car to do the same shortly: the prices are due a drastic nose-dive.

LOL!! Resale value?? Parkers lists mine as about 2k in good nick.

What a crok of sh*t

Dug's statement "I'd advise anyone with a standard car to do the same shortly: the prices are due a drastic nose-dive.", is a load of crap.

The re-sale value of Bravo / Brava are due, and have already taken a nose dive. This is due to several things, 1, the bravo/brava was never massively popular brand new anyway, compared to escorts, astra's and the like, unfortunatly, not every one appreciated them the same as we all do. 2, the bravo/a is now not just on older model of a current car, it's an obsolete model. 3, the re-sale prices of ALL used cars are dropping, due to the prices of brand new motors comin' down, you cant have a cheap new car and still get top whack for your p/x.

And besides all of this, the fact that some people choose to personalise or modify their car doesn't reduce the re-sale value of all cars of that make, otherwise netto would be selling escorts next to the cheap german beans.

I bought my car exactly a year ago, for £6200, glass's guide now books is at £3300, the reality is, if i p/x 'd it, i'd be lucky if i got £2800. I'm a new car salesman, and that trade in figure is with my sales manager givin as much as he could hope to get back for it!

The fact is, cars, un-like houses, don't appreciate in money, unless they are a true classic.

Appologies for the rant

Tony

Life is like a box of chocolates, I always get left with coffee creams!

Re: What a crok of sh*t

Totally agree with Tony. Same goes for the prices here in Holland. And ofcourse it's not true that when a type of car gets tuned alot the price of older models (second hand) goes down. If that would be the case I'd be getting a VW Golf for nothing around here. :)

--== If it works, don't touch it! ==--

Re: What a crok of sh*t

I'll have the coffee creams!

The Mk1 prices dived when the Mk2 came out as they added extra bits to the same spec models and they all dived again when the styless.. sorry Stilo came out.

Is it just me or does the Stilo look like the bastard offspring of a Civic and a Pug? Nasty nasty car.

Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

I didnt like the Stilo at 1st but......

its growing on me

I'm sure there are tablets you can take for that. :)

Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

It's the dark ages of Tipo, Chroma and Panda all over again. Why Fiat have to have these general slumps in design I don't know but there is a precedent. We used to have the 127 which in 1050 Sport and 1300GT guise were lovely looking cars - especially when you consider that the alternatives were the Mk1 Fiesta and the Vauxhall Chuvit. You also had the Fiat 128, not a nice looking car but this spawned the 128 3P which was a very good looking car for its age.

The Fiat 500 was (and still is) one of the cheekiest looking cars ever made and about as much fun a spending the afternoon incarnated as Kylies underwear (Mmmmmm, Kylie) ;)

These cars were later replaced with the likes of the 126 (ugh), the Panda (the only car that has ever prompted me to ask a Fiat employee "The Fiat Panda. Why?!), the Uno and Tipo, the latter two being 2 of the most poorly designed cars in terms of interior and reliability ever.

Then we have the renaissance in terms of the Mk1 and 2 Puntos and the wonderful Bravo and Brava, bringing a style back into car design that many Fiat fans thought may have been lost forever. The Coupe and Barchetta, again harking back to the totally lucious 124 (here I go again) break onto the scene and once again Fiat fans rejoice.

Fiat will be back and are quite evidently realising that the Stilo is yet another mistake that must be rectified sooner rather than later otherwise why are they chopping all their cars out at knockdown prices with 0% finance left right and centre? Also, remember that Fiat are in serious financial difficulty and if we don't continue to buy Fiat the likes of Ferrari and Alfa Romeo are gonna end up in the hansds of the automotive antichrist that is General Motors or Ford.

Come on Fiat. Sort it out!

Shabash!

Re: Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

Ever since it's launch the Bravo/a has always been worth less than the competition. Larger Fiats depreciate far greater than their rivals , mainly because at that price range people expect better reliability and build quality. You only need to look at the Marea!! I got my 1999 HLX Bravo for £4300, a similar Astra would fetch £5300 and a Focus probably £5800.

Fiat are in deep doo-doo, and are doing everything wrong now. They need to cease the current blandness (the new Punto looks like a Hyundia Getz - out of the two I'd probably get the Getz for better value, reliability and dealer service). The Fiat range in 1999 had some great looking cars, and that was their best asset. I'm afraid the only light on the horizon at the moment is the new Barchetta - bargain.

Re: Re: Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

Well Dug, what can I say.

You've tried to proove your point. What was you point again?
Is it that you are childish? Or is it because you are a complete arse? Or do you not really even have a point?

When you said you were leaving the forum I left a little note for you under the post saying that you would be missed and that often enjoyed reading your posts.

I'd like to retract the complement I gave you and say.

Cya u pedantic chop!! lol!

All the best with your next car you middle aged failure hahaha

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

Lets see, what car can you get that noone will mod? Looks like your feked!

Have fun with your new motor and next campaign!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

Well i think its got a bit out of hand again...

Have to say Dug it will be a shame that your not gonna have your bravo as i love the car!! I think your comments were amusing and will miss them in future..maybe the modding bit was a bit over the top though bud??

I'm big on modding and think the bravo standard doesnt look great... maybe not as bad as the stilo though but hey!! To me fair any car u buy these days there will always be a majority of modders, unless u buy a scoda and that really would be desperate!!

Take care anyway , Big Al

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What a crok of sh*t

i think someone will have modded any car you buy. Did anyone see when topgear got lotus to mod that lada? It was beautiful! If i were you Dug i'd find a car you like and enjoy it. I wouldn't let other people effect your decisions so much!

If you were clued up when you bought the car you shouldn`t really lose that much money.
