Having just bought the wife a very nice, 2nd hand 1.6 eleganza on a 07 plate. I noticed today when comparing a friends 1.6 eleganza (57 plate) that the dashboard , dials etc appeared slightly different...but the main thing we only just noticed was my wife's car has a plate fitted to the inside of the drivers side door post that states its a 1.9 multijet model ie diesel.
Now is this something I should now be panicking about or did Fiat just simply
use the diesel eleganza body and stick 1.6 petrol engines in them ??
Can anybody though some light on this please ??
I should state that its had one previous owner and I have all the service history.
Cheers
John

Are you suggesting you are not sure whether it is a diesel or petrol ???
Key information should be on the fuel filler, top of the engine, and the sound of the engine.

If it is a diesel it will definitely have six gears, only the petrols had five.

I guess you need to know whether it's petrol or not, asap, BEFORE you fill it up!?

The V5 will also confirm which engine.

I think these guys are winding us up !!!!

So what's the actual issue / your concerns
No everybody is missing the point.
Of coarse I know its petrol and yes I know that the V5 confirms it as a 1.6 eleganza....But why the hell is the stamped plate on the drivers door stating its a 1.9 multi jet when simply isn't.
Is this just a cock up on Fiat/Suzuki's part ??

Yes, Its not uncommon, fairly regular occurrence on the GP's I believe.

I think your initial post was very misleading !! You were wondering whether you should panic ?

John - there are two model types for both Petrol and Diesel Sedici - Dynamic and Eleganza. The difference in the dashboard dials would be as the Dynamic has basic black plastic heater controls whereas the Eleganza has metallic bezel controls. Though you say yours and your friends look different despite both being Eleganzas? There was a facelift Sedici in 2009 and a few made it into the UK before Fiat stopped selling the car here which had a revised dash including dials and vents. Strange especially as you say the plaque does not match either? First time I have heard of it on a Sedici - bearing in mind they were made at Suzuki's Hungary plant and not by Mario and his mates in Bella Italia...
