AFAIK the Cinq is the legitimate offspring of the Panda - there are a lot of common parts on the 899 ones, and as the 1108 engine fits in there so to does the 1242.

I still think a Panda is easier to work on though - have a look under the bonnet of a carbed one, there's nearly room to get in there with the engine when you take the spare wheel out
