Hello all, just joined this evening, am proud owner of Florence, my new fiat twin air 500. But I have a problem, my front driver seat is getting scratched on the lower side and edge when I get in the car, especially if wearing jeans, combats etc. does anyone know of a car seat or cushion that might stop this happening. The seats are red leather so really looking for something to keep the car looking as good as it does now,

ps, after driving auto cars, mercs, for many years, found it very hard to go back to a manual gearbox, BUT NOW after 6 weeks me and Florence are best of friends, got me worried for a bit tho. Ahhhhhhh. Got to look after her now.:)

Hi Megsmum, nice to have you aboard and congratulations on the new car and totally understand that you want to keep it as pristine as possible. The leather seats are an expensive option and with the extra side support they offer it can sometimes be difficult to get in without rubbing them but unfortunately you will find that unless you carefully ease yourself in it is almost impossible to avoid causing abrasion if wearing roughish material such as denim.

I found that when getting out it was best to push the seat fully back before exiting and then when getting in you were less likely to have this problem.

If you don't like Inki's suggestion to drive "au naturelle" and decide to go for a car seat cover just ensure it is suitable for use with side air bags. Personally, I think it would be a shame to cover up the leather so practice the careful entry and exit manoeuvre (I just know someone will make a risqué comment here, lol) and if that doesn't work satisfactorily perhaps a pillow case or similar just over the base would work.

Good luck and hope to see you in the 500 section soon. (y)

ps. just noticed you are in Hampshire so if you are free on Sunday 21/08/2011 (honest, this isn't a chat up line) take a look here.

thanks all for replys, driving naked, could do but prob cause few bumps, 60 in 3 weeks? I agree it would be a shame to cover the seats but really try hard to get in so ladylike and then forget and wham, another scratch, perhaps try the pillow case round the bum. Its so annoying and thought maybe others might have had the same prob, (and no I am not a large lady). no comment there thankyou:).

However think I may go down the large cushion/throw route.

As for mph am I just misreading this? as I have no idea just keep feeding her when its called for.

Thanks for advice anyway, as for do In Hampshire I am yet to look at that link but will do when home, (on work computer now so had to log in as megsmum 2 if confused) :bang:

Hi (from a 61 year old) with regards to the MPG (miles per gallon) reference (not MPH miles per hour) there has been a lot of discussion in the 500 section regarding the claimed economy of the TwinAir and it is just something that is topical at the moment. The thread below lists peoples observations but it is quite long so you might fall asleep reading it, lol.

Please do check the link to the New Forest get together as it is a great day out.

ta for that, regarding fuel that looks like a job for Hubby? will look at new forest do and will prob try and go if poss. regards:)

you should try http://www.fuelly.com/ you note some details when you fill up put it on there and it works it out for you. You can also put the results in your signature on here to let people see your MPG like in mine :D
