Hi there, Just bought 1.9 53 plate, and I have a couple of probs that I would be very appreciative for some help and advice on.

1. Spinning Lock barrels. I gather from reading some post that this is a very comon problem, attributable to the 'security' feature that spins the lock if it doesn't recognise the key. I managed to free-off the drivers door lock with some patience and WD40. Would a freshly cut key help any?

2. Heater doesn't function. I've read some post with regards to removing the fan/heater assembly for inspection, and am pretty clear on that. However, I'm not as clear on what and where to test, and what faults I should be looking for. (I know my way around a Multimeter) I thought the first thing I should check should be the fuse, but can anyone tell me what number the fuse for the heater is. Had a look but there's loads.

Winter is already kicking in up here in Jock land, so I need to get the heater working!! So I'd be very appreciative of any help you can give me on any of my questions.

Thanks, Gary.

Hi Gary,
Been struggling with my keys as well (only owned the thing for 4.5 hours!). Giving the key a push just before you turn seems to work for me....

HTH,

hello there Garry
I to struggled with the spining locks on my scudo the soulition was the spare key
I had never used, ie a new key sorted out the problem
The fan heater still works when it wants on my van think this is a problem with the slider switch. I had an electriction sort it out for me when it stopped working but its still not right grr .....I just wear gloves and a hat on the realy cold mornings lol.
btw there are 2 fuse box,s one under the bonet and one hidden away behind the glove compartment . best of luck

Hi I just bought my scudo (1.9 53) a month ago.

I had the same two problems.

Fixed the heater as I found the plug had melted at some point and was not attatched correctly. Tested the slider first but this was fine.

I had the spinning barrel issue too, I just push the key in hard and it seems to work fine now too.

One issue im left with is my battery light stays on dim while running, I have a new battery and the alternator has been tested as OK. Sometimes the battery light goes out but not very often.

Other than a few problems Im well happy with this van (for the price).

Re the heater problem, take a look here:

(prefix this with fiatforum.com/ to get access)

scudo/69654-heater-blower-stuck-full-2.html#post1405744 (and backwards on the posts, of course).

Seems to be a very common problem thanks to Bosch sub-contractors GKR, I would suggest that either the FET's in the fan controller are not man enough for the job or more probably the heatsink connections can't handle cooling in a heat duct... :bang:

BTW I have the same problem with my locks too! I just thump the key inwards, smile (and curse), then it works... Recalls on documented design faults don't happen, unless they affect safety or lives?

Hope that helps :)

Cheers

Hi all yes the heaters are very bad.I had a new heater fitted but still didnt work and had the same thing with my door locks.
Went down to Swan Street Salvage in Wolverhampton and they fixed the heater and sold me 5 Brand new genuine valeo door barrels cheap. The heater was just a relay burnt out.If you need door barrels you should contact those boys or they have an online shop just type in scudo parts on google and they pop up midlandmpvbreakers or swans street salvage

Hope you get sorted.
:)
