Hi all,

Wasn't paying too much attention while parking in my garage the other day and I smacked my car into the wall. :(

Got a few scratches, some of them quite deep. What will I need to try and either remove these scratches or cover them up? Touch up paint, tcut?

Any ideas? Where can I go to get whatever it is I need? It's New Orleans Blue.

Cheers.

Sort of 3, the difference is i didnt do mine, some other arse did. If your gonna use t-cut use the metallic one as it is less abrasive. Ive just had a quote to have mine resprayed in the area thats scratched and the whole lot laquered by a Fiat recommened bodyshop and they want £300, i think not.

HI RichC you wont like what i have to say but exotica red and almost certainly carribean orange are the worst colour to match.its the pigment in the paint it varies every time the new bodywork on my car is obvious but under street lighting ie...sodium lights "orange"it hits you right between the eyes.so be prepared mate:( :(

Tell me about it mate, thats all i have been thinking about. Ive come to terms that im just gonna have to pay the money now but its the colour not matching that im bothered about. I have had a look through my mates colour mixing book and exotica red is in there but as you say the pigment will always be different. Nothing else i can do about it though really unless i use some red wax and leave it as it is but i dont know if i can live with that.

where is it damaged if it the rear its not that bad for matching the pigment variation wont be so noticeable just get the bumper and the hatch done.my car had the2 doors done, both wings, bonnet, full front really and the 2door mirrors and according to the invoice the paint cost £170.so its not cheap but its not that expensive either.if your mate can do it all the better for ya(y) (y)

Sorry to hear about the damage - Got the same color as you.
First of all get "Scartch X" by Meguiars from Halfords £8.95
It's expensive but absolutely the best at removing or reducing some pretty nasty marks/scratches......you need to apply quite alot on a pad and keep rubbing because it's very safe with fine granules. Repeat the process a couple more times.
After that you will see what was polished out and what cannot be polished and will have to be painted.
I cannot recommend this stuff HIGHLY enough.....everyone should have a tube.

Thanks for the advice guys, ive been away and completely forgot about my post!

Not wanting to mess up the car any more, what sort of pad should I use if I get that halfords Scratch X?

I'll try and get a picture up tonight.

Sorry to hear aboot the damage...

You should have done what I did soon as I go the car... I put cheap **** carpet up each sides of the garage nasty wall! (y)

Oh and a massive cheap box at the end... so i go into that.

Did have an idea of putting a mirror hangin up at an sort of slant... never got around to it.

I want a remote garage door.

oops... thread hijacking. :bang:

Meguiars sell round yellow foam pads....they cost 3.99 for 2 but they easily work the best with scratch x. Apply alot onto the pad and then just keep rubbing over the area.....you've got to concentrate on a 1 inch area at a time...and then you've got to remove the cream, see what it looks like and the re-apply again.....so it takes quite a long time to get a result but it does work when nothing else will.
Good luck.
