scraping noise when breaking on 2000 punto.

Hi,

Can anyone help, i've got a 2000 (x reg) 1.2 punto. Lat wk I had front suspension coil replaced, this wk however I have a different problem.

After going 40mph or more, when breaking I can hear a scraping noise coming from front of car, like something is gonna fall off underneath.

Does anyone know what this could be and if it's expensive to fix?

Does the scraping sound like a plastic or metallic scraping? And when was the last time the break pads/disks were checked/changed?

hi and welcome,yeah its probably the pads. prob worn down so much theres just metal hitting metal. if it is then you need to change them as soon as you can before they ruin your brake discs. failing that it could be the discs themselves. if you take a wheel of and rub your finger along the metal of the disc. if its nice and smooth then its not them...check both. if one is very bumpy when you run your finger over it then you need to change both.
