i would like to here from anyone who has had any work done on there engine management by a certain large car dealership throughout scotland.especially if you have had to fork out very large sums of money.

only certain dealers

are good, where in scotland are you?. I assume you are the same bloke from further up with the red key problem. I e-maild you, drop me one back telling me where you are and I can maybe advise. I have been buying fiats for years and have therefore used a number of dealers.

Cheers

arnold clark

I STAY IN LIVINGSTON ,SCOTLAND ,AND PURCHASED THE CAR FROM ARNOLD CLARK ,ALLISON ST FIAT DEALERSHIP.
WHEN I PURCHASED MY CAR I MADE SURE IT HAD ALL THE KEYS,BUT WHEN I PICKED CAR UP THE SALESMAN WAS ON HOLIDAY,SO I WAS TOLD KEYS WOULD BE FORWARDED.
WHEN I GOT HOME I COULDNT OPEN ANY DOORS WITH THE KEY,ONLY THE REMOTE WORKED SO UNDER MY WARRENTY I WENT TO GET MY LOCKS FIXED. ARNOLD CLARK IN GORGIE SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLACE MYLOCKS WITHOUT THE RED KEY AS ALL CODES ARE WIPED WHEN THIS IS DONE AND WITHOUT RED KEY ECU WILL HAVE NO CODE.
I CALLED ALLISON ST AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD LOST MY KEYS,I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH SALES DIRECTOR BUT HE WILL STILL ONLY FIX MY LOCKS WHICH WILL LEAVE MY ECU UNSERVICABLE.

legal advice

think you need to take legal advice here. Suspect the sale of goods act may be your best attack but a lawyer will keep you right.

On good dealers, the ones I know are not really handy, for you but they are

Fairbairns in Irvine, Excellent service (i have a 60 mile round trip to get to them but I think its worth it). McFarlanes in Dumbarton, good but on a smaller scale. On my last visit over two years ago , they didnt have the electronic diagnostic stuff. As I said give Arnold Clark (allison st) and Reg Vardy (anywhere) a wide berth. I had good sales experience at clarks in grangemouth once but cant vouch for their service.

good luck

Arnold Clark

In my opinion Arnold Clark Alison Street (and Arnold Clark in general) are absolutely terrible. I bought my 1 year Brava there about 2 years ago. I got in home and realised it had 1 bald tyre, 2 torn wiper blades, a faulty water pump and faulty timing belt (which was only replaced after 4 visits and when I refused to leave the forecourt until the service manager agreed there was a fault when they previously said they couldn't fined one).

I would never buy another car from Arnold Clark again. In my opinion they are a high volume low quality dealer. What I eventually did waswrite to the group sales director and I eventually got all the problems fixed as I think he kicked ass.

Arnold Clark

I`ve had similar dealings with Arnold Clark and wouldn`t touch a car from any of them with a bargepole! they are nothing but a shower of incompetents. For Fiat service you should use McFarlanes in Dumbarton, family run business not there to rip you off.
