Technical Scantool for 2.2 with SGW

Technical Scantool for 2.2 with SGW

Ive read that Alfaobd app works and for coding but not sure what diag tool was being used with it.

Has anyone got any recommendations for bi directional scan-tools for above. and how to access the Fiat gateway if required
I have tried some of the cheaper tools on my 2022 Ducato 2.2 but found various problems when using them. What finally worked perfectly was the following:

MultiEcuScan, OBDLink EX, and an SGW Bypass such as this one from Gendan SGW Bypass - although you can find the same thing on eBay for half the price.

If I remember correctly you will also need the Blue and Grey coloured adapter cables.

AlfaOBD also works with that setup but was missing a lot of parameters compared with MultiEcuScan.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, before you purchase , check that it is actually compatible with your vehicle.
I was going to the MES route until I found that my 2010 Fiat Scudo 2.0 was not on it's list due to it having the Peugeot engine so I had to buy MaxiEcu scan tool which I have been very happy with and you can add on other car makers for a small fee. It runs on Windows O/S.
Not saying your vehicle would not work with MES, just saying check first.:)

Without a bypass cable can you collect codes and read data on a 22 with SGW

The Multiecuscan website indicates that you can read error codes and live data but you can't execute procedures or clear error codes, to quote:

PLEASE NOTE that this model most probably has "security gateway" protection module (SGW). You can perform a SCAN on the car with Multiecuscan and see if it will detect SGW module. The SGW protection module blocks 3rd party diagnostic tools from executing procedures and clearing error codes. Reading of error codes and live data is allowed. If the car has SGW module then you will need to install “SGW-bypass” device to be able to run procedures and clear error codes.
