I burst out laughing in a thankfully none too crowded restaurant when I saw the email notification from this thread :D

At last.

Right, I think we can now see the way this is going. Here is her reply from this evening. I feel myself being reeled in:

Hello,

I have contacted a reputable delivery company and I was very satisfied with the procedure and the services they have to offer us.I went to one of offices and I talked with Manager about sending the vehicle and they explained to me the whole process.

EU-Mobile need your delivery information (your name and address), mobile phone number in order to make all the documents.

You will receive an invoice notification from the shipping company (invoice, contract between me and the shipping company, where it's stipulated that we paid the shipping taxes and duty taxes .

They will also provide you with the sales contract, between us (seller) and you (buyer), where it is also stipulated that in case that the vehicle is not like you expected, you can change your decision within 5 days.

The price also includes a trial period (5 days) when you can test drive the vehicle to be sure what you are buying. If for any reason you do not like the vehicle, you can send it back with no problems or extra charges.Your main advantage is that the vehicle registration is included in total price and you will not have to pay any additional taxes.

EU-Mobile will contact you in the following 24 hours and give you all the necessary details to finish our deal if you agree to buy my vehicle.

PS. Thank you very much for your good wishes.

I will wait for news from your part,

I must say it is a jolly good service these people offer - a five day test drive! I couldn't possibly turn that down (so I didn't):

Hi Kelly

This is fantastic news! I am very relieved that you chose a reputable company: I have a friend who lives in Ireland called Michael (I wonder if you know him?!). He uses international couriers a lot because his wife adores foreign fashion goods - she loves handbags - and he said that a lot of the Irish ones are not very trustworthy.

Well I will wait to hear from the company - this is almost too good to be true!

Best wishes,

Robin

So tomorrow I should be getting an email from a highly reputable delivery company who will, I suspect, invite me to pay them some money (which can of course be refunded any time up to 5 days after delivery)....

Interesting that she is now referring to her car as 'the vehicle' - I sense a pre-scripted dialogue here, as 'she' probably has multiple versions of this scam going on at any one time, and this allows 'her' to answer all correspondence without checking which car the 'buyer' is referring to.

Absolutely - all standard responses, used multiple times, with an occasional edit (like PS. Thank you very much for your good wishes. in her last email).

I've been doing a bit of research - Kelly Wilson seems to be quite a popular name for scammers to use. Also they seem to be Eastern European rather than West African these days.

These international delivery companies are about as lazy as Fiat salesmen these days - I haven't heard a squeak. So I sent Kelly this:

Hi Kelly

I'm sorry to bother you again but I haven't heard from "EU-Mobile" and I couldn't find them on Google so couldn't call them.

Do you have the name and number of the Manager you spoke to? Maybe I could call him and chase it up. I don't want to delay this any more as Maxi is getting very excited about her new Fiat Panda!

Thanks!

Robin
Note that I dropped into the email the fact that I think it is a Panda rather than a 500 - let's see if s/he picks up on this. My guess is that stu0710 is right and s/he won't remember what car image was used and so this will go over her head.

Oh RobinPJ, you're such a fantastic husband, what is a girl to do!

306maxi, Your a lucky girl, I dont think i would ever go to the effort that Robin has to obtain a car ;)

My thoughts... What if it is legit? Youll have a car being sent to an old address and an angry courier asking the new residents for monies? :s

Subscribed to this thread, loving the work ;) keep it up!

This is a great thread! I'm interested to see if the scammers steal the car and ship it via a legit transport company!

Could you get done for handling stolen goods??

Why would they do that? Far more money to be made just never delivering a car at all.
