both at the same speed, what would you rather be in?
note that the saxo is also 1 year younger than the punto.

In fairness to the saxo its an older design than that punto.

Ive worked on some mk1 puntos in the body shop and they turn into a cocacola can at the thought of a collision, LOL.,.,, one particular one i was stripping out was so badly damaged that the bonnet badge was where the wipers should be.,,

the saxo is based on the peugeot 106, which was launched in 1991, so the punto is actually a newer design

also, that punto is a mk2 which is ALOT newer

my point exactly!!!
look at the lower quarter and sill of the Mk1 punto in the NCAP pic above,.,. reinforced tinfoil!! lol.,.,,.

it amazing how far we've come in car safety in the last few years really.,.,

the thing about these pics is they only show collisions with a stationary object and as most accidents involve 2 or more vehicles the damage is far worse especially if they are travelling in oposite directions as there cruising speed is effectively doubled., so you may think you crashed at 30mph but you really crashed at 60mph.,,

And as far as the mk1 vs Saxo, i wouldn't really be fussy about which i crashed in as both of them performed dreadfully and are pretty much garrenteed to kill you if your in the front of the car.,. for the first time in my life i can actually say "make it a VOLVO and you have a deal" LOL.,.,

see i think the punto is pretty safe, theres been accidents on here and psc where they have crashed and gone spinning, rolling on the roof, all sorts, and many just walk out!

yes but the same can happen in many cars.years back i um pushed the envelpoe in a renault 5 turbo.
ended in my flipping nose over tail along a big ditch.
stopped on its roof and i had to smash my way out.
i was left with cuts on my hand from smashing the glass but that was it really and the 5's are built of nothing.
there are many variables in a crash and personally i want to be in NO car when it crashes!

the thing about that is, although spining and rolling over onto the roof may look bad it is actually dissapating the energy of the crash.,.

It is MUCH worse to hit something that stops you in your tracks as the car takes all of the energy of the crash.

as for "custard",.,.,. shame on you,, you riuned a perfectly good R5 GTT.,.,LOL

always wanted one of those babys, now theres hardly any on the road.,
those renaults are actually older than me!!

Why should the mk1 punto go against the saxo, that saxo is the mk2 2000 model! whereas the mk2 shown is the 1999!
well as people have said the saxo is really a 106 from like 1991, thats where its originally from, so it would go against a punto mk1 from 1993/4.

i know what your saying but the mk2 saxo aint exactly any different from the first lol

well they didn't change just the appearence, same with the mk2 punto.
it just shows how really crap citreons are then lol

I would rather crash in a Punto than a Saxo. If I was going to die, too, at least I would be in a stylish looking car when I went! :D
