Hi there, I'm a newbie here with a satnav problem. Started as noticing the time shown was wrong, tried to reset this with no luck. I must have done something wrong as now the satnav shows me being in Paris, instead of Derbyshire, the time is still wrong etc, but the radio is still working fine. I have investigated all the settings menu, succeeded in setting my home address, but it just wants to direct me from Paris! Any help will be much appreciated

Hello,

Just an idea. When you're away from home and trace a route to a destination, does it still wants to make it from Paris?

EDIT: is the GPS working (showing a correct location) when you move?

EDIT 2: if not, I'd check the antenna.

Hi there,
Yes, it tracks me as per usual, even giving the mileage and expected time etc. One thing I have found is that it has reset itself to midnight, Jan 1st 2011. And it starts from this point every time. When I tried to reset the time, the screen I got doesn't match the version shown in the manual, it just gives the choice of GMT, with a plus 1 or 2 hours, and also a summertime option.

So, it doesn't look like a technical failure, but rather an electrical issue.

There are a few questions that come to my mind: have you unplugged the car battery before? did the SatNav was resetting at the time? If you have but the SatNav didn't reset itself, perhaps there's a battery that is ment to keep the system online.

Is there an update available to the system? how is it done?
I assume it does not have LTE connectivity and gets the basic data (position + time) from GPS only.

The battery hasn't been disconnected prior to this fault, and I can see no mention of any LTE connection. Since last posting I have disconnected and reconnected the battery, and it has now reverted back to a local map! But , it is showing as having no gps connections, and the date /time etc is still showing Jan 1st 2011, and it starts from 12.00 every time you start up. Seeing as the gps antenna is under the centre of the dashboard it will likely be a nightmare to locate it and check any connections. Looks like I shall have to try a dealership and see if their reader can do anything. Apart from relieve me of money that is! I note that there are updated map sd cards available, but I doubt they would do anything for this problem.

If the GPS is following you when you drive, I'd say the antenna is OK. But yes, it looks like it has some connection issues. The cable connector at the back of the radio unit would be the first thing to check.

The updated map SD card can contain (but doesn't have to) in parallel the application / sytem update.

I had to do some running about this afternoon, and I found that at one spot the unit gave out a tone and later realised that the map had frozen at that spot. I's a known spot for radio dropout, so it would seem the map is working from RDS rather than gps. I will look into removing the head and checking the connections as it does seem the most likely thing. Again, many thanks for your insight on this, it has been a great help.
