General runs then stalls...

Hi all, a problem i've got that is getting me down!... My car will start then maybe after about 5-10 mins will cut out, sometimes when i try to restart the car, the starter wont turn, even though the battery is fine! Other times, she will drive ok. The starter is new and the battery is new. Anything i should check or replace?.Thanks

when it doesn't turn the engine ...look at the ignition lights.. do they go DIM as you turn the key..??

either poor electrical supply,
or a mechanical fault making the engine partially seize..??

Thanks Charlie, will check next time she cuts out on me whether lights dim or not. i've been looking on forum and searching google, 2 things caught my attention....
1/ Could it be idle control valve in need of cleaning/replacing????? 2/ The spark plugs might need replacing?????

spark plugs would NOT stop the engine turning,

is it actually turning but not firing..??

Hi Charlie, ok, she did it again today on my way to work. Started then died, started again, then died again after 1/4 mile drive and wouldnt start at all, even the starter would'nt turn for about 5 mins.Then she was just turning over, but not firing. In the end i left her and came back to her after 4 hours.She started, just!! And i crawled back home. Where she is now. Any ideas?? Regards David. :bang:

did the ignition lights go REALLY dim,

when you tried starting + it refuse to turn over / crank ??

if the lights stayed bright it sounds like an electrical issue,

if the starter motor was TRYING to turn the engine the battery lights should dim..,
