First of all read this thread:

https://www.fiatforum.com/ulysse/336192-rt3-help-advice.html

you will need the following if you are going to do the upgrade (as far as i know I'm the only one on here who has attempted it!)

Donor screen & the tray in front of the screen, An RT3- N3 and either a Partial loom or full loom(more detail on this in a mo)

Check your RT3 Unit and ascertain if it's an N1 or N3 (the N1 doesn't have the fibre link connection for the screen!) you will need to partially remove the unit to see the identifier label (see pic)

The difference can be seen in the next 2 pics if you look in the top right hand corners of the connector Just above the fuse) you'll see the difference between them.
RT3 - N1

N3

As for the loom, If you are removing the screen from a donor vehicle yourself then i would advise you get the complete loom as this will make your new installation easier (plug and play) be warned though the entire front dash board / Facia has to come out to remove it!! otherwise speak with Frantic Fran has he may (if you are lucky) have a loom already off!

My Intention when I did mine was to create a How to thread, unfortunately I haven't had the time to do it yet!

I also know someone with a C8 without any navigation to start with retro fit the RT3N3 & colour screen, they paid a garage to change the entire loom ( which I sold them) over, this included removing the headlining to install the gps antenna.

Hate to think what they charged, and they still haven't got it working correctly as the cars position doesn't seem to track correctly on the map even though it picks up 7+ satellites.

If you are upgrading from the RT3 N1 then you have a good head start on the conversion!

have checked my head unit and its a n1.
how easy is it to change to the colour screen and n3 unit

Took me about 12hrs in total as follows:

3hrs removal of screen, RT3 Unit and loom from donor vehicle.
4hrs (in house) Researching wiring diagrams and whether switch was possible.
2hrs removal of my upper dash/fashia and rewire of loom.
2hrs refitting everything
1hr reprogramming/updating

As you have an N1 I would recommend obtaining the wiring loom as well as the screen and RT3.

this means you could complete the whole job in a day easily.
did you get the PM i sent you?

yes got your message thanks looking into if its viable or just send off monochrome screen for repair.
