hi

my fiat doblo 1.9 multi jet is taking ages to start

I've plugged it into multiecuscan and it comes back with code p0340 cam shaft position sensor

will this be the problem?

looking at this forum lots of post say crankshaft sensor

is the camshaft sensor the same as the crankshaft sensor?

the work I've had done not so long ago

3000 miles ago new timing belt kit and water pump fiat parts
3000 miles ago full service all fiat parts

thanks for the help

the car has been in the garage today to get the camshaft sensor replaced and it still has the same problem p0340 code

anyone got any ideas

thank you

Check the wiring to it, if need be get an auto electrician to check the wiring, it must be the wiring or the ECU, I would put my money on wiring.

Still I don't know the circuit, so can't say any more.

the car is in at the auto electrician on thursday so hopfully get to the bottom of the problem

Update

went to auto electrician on thursday

he checked the car over and said it was a faulty cam shaft sensor

as he is not getting no return signal from the sensor but hes getting signal from the ecu to the cam sensor

so ive paid £60 for a cam sensor from eurocarparts and it was a bosch and its fautly and i paid for it to get installed . the best part is eurocarparts do not accept and returns on electrical components. will not be using them again

so ive bought 1 from fiat at £90 and them have got the same policy no return

update

as the auto electrician told it was a faulty sensor i bought a new sensor from fiat

had it installed and the same problem comes up

bloody sick of my life with this crap

either auto electrician doesn't no his job or I've got 2 faulty sensors ?

anyone got any ideas

Hello Friend:

I have the same problem like you. I replace sensor, I have the same error code, all wiring from sensor to ecm is good, all fuses are ok, The only code is P0340.

Did you solve the problem ?

Thanks

No the problem is not sorted out

ive replaced the following

crank shaft sensor x3
camshaft sensor x2
timing belt
water pump
camshaft pully

still the same problem over £600 spent so far

Hi,
Just seen this thread on your error code PO340, concerning camshaft sensor. On another thread on this site, we were discussing similar points. It concerns Phonic Wheel Learn. As you've mentioned already, a new timing belt has been put in, and all additional bases covered from what you've done so far.
The fact that it has a camshaft sensor, it is very sensitive to change...........after a timing belt change, and this could be your problem with your error code being displayed. As I say, it could be your source of the problem.
The link below discusses Phonic Wheel Learn.

The above link was supplied by Brummy Exile.
This article gives you the option of resetting the ECU to the new parameters after a timing belt change.
As I've already stated, this maybe your problem and it might not be, but its worth a look.
The fact that that your ECU is sending out the signal to your cam sensor, and nothing coming back, sounds omminous.
Hope this is some help.
John.
