Got neighbours 2004 1.2 running today after the cold weather, starts OK but after a couple of minutes starts hunting and then stalls, The poor thing has been badly neglected! I was suspecting air leak somewhere but before I start looking thought I'd ask here. This lady has no funds so its just a friendly help out, its due a test at the end of the month and I haven't the heart to tell her it hasn't a snowballs chance in hell!. She'd pick up another car for the money of putting this right and she got robbed blind when she bought it. BTW no lights on dash etc, coil packs appear fairly new. Any pointers please?

Throttle position sensor if it's a fly by wire, MaF is it's not.
Take the MaF off and blow the crap out of it, clean the terminals, refit and try again.
Do the same with the plug to the throttle position sensor.
Failing that it could be something daft like an extremely clogged up air filter. My RX7 had similar symptoms when I found a field mouse had made a nest in the airbox.
