hi, i need a little help,
i'll start at the beginning..
my punto was running fine, ran it really low on fuel, almost on fumes,
since then it has been running as rough as a badgers proverbial...
the engine management light is almost always on, and it feels like its only running on 3 cylinders, real lumpy and zero power,
my first question is this, could it be blocked injector? if so is it a servicable part? can i strip and clean it, i know that they can be refurbed so i'm guessing there is a way of doing it.
my next question is, could it be totally unrelated to fuel delivery, after reading some of the post on here i have discovered that the coil packs are not exactly robust and are prone to goin a bollok,

so should i start with the easy option, check the coil pack and ecu as described,
or strip and clean the injector rail?

it aint broke, i just aint fixed it enough...

right, i've changed the plugs, leads and coil packs, still running on 2 cylinders, have spoken to a decent local indi, before i had even finished my sentence he told me that it was the ECU...
apparently its a common problem on these, the coil pack fails, this then spikes the ECU..
just f***kin great.
are these interchangeable?
i have read that as long as you get one with the same part number they dont need reproramming, is this true? or is it easier to buy a flashed, plug and play unit,
mine is a IAW 5AF.P3

update:
is now fixed, turns out it was the ECU,
many thanks to the nice man at puntos r us in manchester,
lots of good advice and a cracking deal on a virgin ECU
