Hello all, after doing a cam belt change I also replaced the rocker cover rubber gasket seal, the old one was welded on nightmare removing the cover, I thoroughly cleaned the surfaces and replaced o.rings, torqued to 10nm cross patterned, anyway after a 30mile road test it appears to have sweated a little bit here and there not a lot just enough to make the rubber a little shiny on the edge no drips or anything, question is will it bed in or should I remove and apply some rtv sealant whilst its probably still soft. Any advice much appreciated. Great forum for knowledge this.

Is it the rubber shiny, or oil weeping?
If you wipe it with a piece of kitchen roll, does the tissue pick up anything?
If it isn't leaking, leave well alone.

In the past I've added RTV sealant to the groove in the rocker cover, then placed the rubber seal in it and placed it on the engine (to ensure it's flat) till it sets (over night, but ideally longer), and only then tightening it down. You must ensure it cures right through (thoroughly), or soft bits in the middle of the sealant burst out the edge of the bead. Done properly, you get more pressure at the seal.
