Taken from alfa156.net forum:

Democracy in action
The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.

The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked.

Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedom and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website (link below) and pass this on to as many people as possible.

What an absolute scam, once again the motorists are proving easy targets.

I have recently lost my license for 3 months and have the joys of public transport, which the government are trying to persude us to all use. The first buses in Aberdeen constantly run late, the Stagecoach buses to take me out of the city generally run on time but your lucky if you can get one to stop, and then there are the trains which are all well and good if you plan on going somewhere in 3 months time, but for a spur of the moement thing the fare goes through the roof, making it more expensive than taking a car. And none of them i would say are especially comfortable, quick or conveinient.

What they really should be doing is improving things at the source of the problem rather than just lumping the general public with rules, taxes and fines. Look at recycling, yes its all fine and well we should do it, but they try to impose it on us by reducing the amount of waste pick ups, and fines, rather than encouraging manufacturers to use biodegradeable packaging, or even just using less.

They really have to improve public transport before they can expect us to use it.

Seconded.

The bus service in Grampian is ****. There are no other words to describe it, often the drivers are rude and unhelpful, I cant remember the last time the bus was on time and to top if off, as Adam says, you cannot use just one network for your journey.

The day that public transport is up to scratch is the day I'll pay yet more!
