Road angel 2 comes in 2 forms with laser alert rrp £399, and without laser alert rrp £369. I bought mine for £280 with 6mths warranty and subscription. Its a factory recon one. Can't tell it from new.

I recommend that people look on Ebay, under Automotive/Car Navigation systems and you'll regularly see Road Angels, Cyclops, Origin, Road Pilot, Geodesy examples for sale - and at damn good prices, too.

I saw an unused Origin Bluei (original model) go for all of 60 quid the other day !!!!

I used to own a roadangel couldn't fault it, saved my bacon a few time (or is that saved me from the bacon ).

I now use some free software and tomtom for PocketPC for my 'blackspot' warnings.

Isn't pointless to get one with laser detection. If you detect a laser beam, you have already been "hit" by the laser and the police have your speed.
In other words it would be to late to slow down.
It's like when you come around a corner and spots the police standing a few hundred meters ahead, the problem as soon as you see them they see you and have already "shot" you with the laser or radar.

This is true but I bought mine to detect gatso's being as these are the most common cameras in the country and it detects them very well. I dont think anything can stop you getting caught by radar guns except for jammers which get you right in the **** if they find out you got one on your car, so you just have to be carefull were you speed.

GPRS are more reliable than laser detectors and will always be legal but you still have to slow down for cameras as they don't tell you whether there on or not.

i use tomtom 3 and a bluetooht gps with a database of 'blackspots' that autoupdates from the net, as i have the crapo tape deck in mine now(my cd mp3 was stolen), i have attached my pda to my tape deck and get all the warning etc through the speakers and it doubles up as a smart mp3 player also

My thoughts exactly!
I have a road angel that came with the laser detector option, but I've never used it for that very reason. The road angel works just fine without it - If any one wants it - make me an offer
