all plugs are firing on mine.... but a large amount of petrol fumes are blowing back through the inlet manifold.

This sounds like a bent valve or incorrect timing to me :S anyone can help ?? i have a post up if you get any ideas...

its not sounding good for me either, replaced the MAP with brand new one and have changed HT and cleaned up my plugs, cleaned my injector bar and now i have the whole thing apart checking my timing, i am struggling to find the timing marks tho, but a sizeable chunk of mashed (by cambelt) plastic fell out when i removed the out crank pulley (the works with the alternator belt). The timing marks appear to be correct for the inner crank pulley (when using the 1.2 8v diagram) and the 2 outer pistons are at TDC when the marks are lined up, but if this is the case and the 1.28v diagrams are the same for my car, then my timing is out by a good 15-20 teeth! but the thing still runs :S i am soo confused. could all these problems be casued by something more simple, i feel like i am wasting my time unless the piece of plastic managed to make the belt jump a loooonnnng way....

im having the same problem as you guys, mine was only reving to 3krpm then i changed the plugs and now it only revs to 5krpm. its better but hardly what it should be! FS:mad:

had a similiar problem with daughters last couple of weeks,:( look for my tag see if anything looks the same,:) I changed the stepper motor on Spi it worked for me.(y)(y)(y)

Allan.

was on my way to sales at meadowhall today.. and when i got on the motorway i noticed when you put foot down.. not only did revs climb quite slowly, but when i got to 3.5k-4k it wouldnt go any higher, and the car juddered, and made a weird noise.. like someone had put a limiter on the car.. when we got meadowhall had a gander under bonnet, and noticed there was no oil (n) so after shopping went garage and got some... filled her up and thought that might fix it... well it didnt. :(

any thoughts?

hello i had the same problem.
it was the crank sensios. easy 2 fit. just 1 10mm bolt.
i got 1 from a breakers 4 a fiva.

i sorted my timing this weekend, the belt was out by a tooth, it runs a little better now but still getting to 500rmp and it just wont go any more.......... is there any way to know for sure weather its the tdc sensor or if it the lambda sensor? or the ecu or may be even the cat?... someone please help me:(

mine still isnt fixed, and now my bravo is broken to i need it sorting.

i changed the lambda and MAP on mine, and no change, and also tried a different ECU. im at a loss but the garage its at, the guy said he'll look at it this week so might be able to shed some light then :(

that would be most apreciated...

if its like my mates old astra just beat the **** out of the cat and wait for it to spit its bits out the exhaust as it was his cat causing the problem

the thought did cross my mind, i think its going to be a process of elimination by the looks of things, we have a scan tool at work, i was wondering if anyone knew if the cinq sporting is OBD2 connection?

do you know what it is then? we have a multi fitment snap on thngy in the workshop, but i need to know what fitment it is and where it would be?

I'd do a compression test first. If that's OK, join ClubCento where you'll find the nominal values for all (almost?) all of the SPI sensors.

OTTOMH I can't remember the type of the diagnostic on the SPI, but it sure aint ODB2 compliant.

i got my dad to do a compression test on it and he says its all fine, it just seems like there is a soft limmiter kicking in at about 4500 rpm to 5000 rpm.

i had a look at club cento and it's £20 to join,,, eeeek, ive just bought a house and i cant even really afford to repait the fecking cento at this rate its going to get binned if i dont have much joy soon :(

it all comes down to money at the end of the day doesnt it lol, had trouble with other clubs in the past, there always seems to be someone out there that wants you to pay for a little advice. i'll sort it eventualy or it will go in the bin lol. thanks for all your help thus far anyway :D

All sorted, i managed to change the crank/TDC sensor and it's all good. i got one from a scrap yard off of a punto 55, the only difference is that the lead is a bit shorter but you can just re route it.:D
