I have a Fiat 500 Lounge 1.2 on a 09 plate. I have an issue where the idle speed seems to increase when I am in traffic. It idles well and then increases for no reason and then goes back down to normal. I thought it was the climate control but in the cold weather it still happens. Sometimes it makes the steering wheel vibrate. It feels like some sort of fan, but the car is not hot. It can sometimes happen as soon as I drive off and stop at a junction. If anyone can help me diagnose this issue that would be great.

Could be cooling fan kicking in when Climate / AC is on. Is the car under heavy electrical load (lights, rear screen heater etc) when this happens?

Hi there, I thought it was when the AC was on but it also happens when no AC on. Also when no lights are on, only the day lights and the radio.

Hi there, just to let you know that the issue did end up being the cooling fan which fiat are going to replace under warranty. Thanks for your advice. Julie

Great result Julie!

That's a great outcome for an 09 plate, I'd have automatically thought your warranty would have been long gone for something like that. Glad Fiat have stepped in to sort it for you.
