Hi All,
My daughters 500 has an aftermarket header unit - Kenwood dmx6523dabs and I have installed a Kenwood reversing camera.
I can access the camera from the menu, when the car is in reverse, but it does not trigger the display to switch automatically.
The camera gets power from the reversing light cable, which I spliced.
Research suggested that I also needed to feed power to a purple/white cable that comes out of the back of the header unit, so again, I spliced the reverse light cable and hooked into the purple/white cable.
Confession - I used some old bell wire, as that's all that I had to hand, that seemed to be of a similar thickness.
Has anyone performed the same job with success please? Is it possible that the bell wire is incompatible, and that's causing the issue?
Any help/advice appreciated.
cheers

MK Deano,
I am going to second your post as i am too having a similar issue. My head unit is an aftermarket Android unit with a reverse camera where i am unable to get the reverse camera to display. I have read through the other posts here but to no help. My daughters Fiat 500 is a 2016 model as well. I have engaged outside car audio installers and they too are unable to explain, but both have indicated the issue might be with the head units CAN BUS decoder. But i am not entirely convinced as i have bypassed the decoder for the reverse signal and connected directly into the signal reverse wire before the decoder. I have replaced wiring harnesses, the camera and the RCA cable that runs between. I am at the point where i am going to remove the unit and all the cabling and start again. Hopefully someone might offer some assistance here. 🤞
