Reverse light switch

Hi guys,

Firstly, I'd just like to say thanks for a lot of good advice I've picked up on this forum over the last couple of months - came in very handy while I bought my Marea TD125 HLX (only the Italians could make an engine like that!)

Anyway, I have a minor technical glitch I was hoping someone could help with - the reverse lights don't work! Neither reverse light works, but the rest of the lights in each cluster are fine. I've changed both bulbs, the connections in the clusters seem to be good, and the fuse is OK (other functions covered by same fuse still work). I suspect it's the reverse light switch somewhere on the gear selector or linkage. Before I start pulling the centre console apart in the hope of stumbling across it, can anybody point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
Richard

Richard you can check whether the reverse light switch is properly plugged into the gearbox. You'll have to pop your head under the front bumper to see it (you wont see it from the engine bay)...to be exact, it is near the gearbox oil plug which is on the front lower part of the engine. It literally looks like an electric plug, plugged into the gearbox.

Its the only remaining option if the bulbs and fusing is correct.

Fiat Bravo....different day different sh!t.

Its on the gearbox, sticks out of the front if I remember correctly.

Have you got a multimeter? Check that there is infact 12v at the reverse light socket. (should be live when the ignition is on)
