Technical replacment of vacuum advance uno 1.0ie

today i did the test that i read somhere on the forum (blowing, sucking whatever) the only result of the test was a bad taste in my mouth. so i'm guessing that the vacuum advance needs to be changed. Can i do it by myself or it's a bit complicated so that i would need to take a part the distributor?
