One of my first posts here ever so thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

I am a complete and absolute carnoob, so keep that in mind before you shoot me incase of silly questions.

I am having my fiat coupe 2.0 for a few years now with little or no complaints but lately small irritations have come to surface.
When driving on a clean nice road: no probles. But when taking smaller city roads with cracks and potholes.. i have the feeling the whole car is gonna fall apart one of these days.

Especially the suspension (i think) on the front wheels.
Making a lot of noise when taking a bumpy road.

My idea was to stop by at my local Fiat garage and ask them to replace the cars suspension. Is that a good idea or absolutely not? I just want to cover my back and not blindly believe what Mr. Garageman might tell me.

Any experiences or advice is more than welcome (y)

I wouldn't go to a Fiat dealer. Instead look for a decent independent. Whereabouts in the UK are you?
The front wishbones do need replacing from time to time on the Coupes, as the rubber mounting wears out. The parts are about £120 for both sides. If they are being replaced, you might as well replace the top mounts (at the top of the shock absorbers), the drop links (that attach to the anti-roll bar) and the anti-roll bar bushes. All those parts shouldn't cost more than £200, and replacing worn out components makes the car far more sure footed as well as quieter and less bumpy.

Totally agree with hmallett has posted. Depending where you are, I'd recommend visiting PowerItalia (formerly PowerFIAT) or Motormech.

Excellent info.
I'm not in the UK but in Belgium but that should not be a problem.
This info was very helpful.

Will keep you informed on the outcome.

Thanks for this :D

Belgium? That makes a difference! Ferry from Ostend to Ramgate then round the corner to PowerItalia in Basildon? :D

sorry for the late reply ;)

Trip to the UK sounds fine to me. I might do that if i cant find a decent engineer here to fix my Coupe.

As much as I recommend the specialists, mainly as you have peace of mind that they will do a 100% spot on job. The coupe's are pretty straight forward to work on. A good independant garage should have no issue sorting the problem.
As posted above wishbones and suspension rubbers are the main fault this will result in a bone shaking ride and the car may feel a little sloppy on the handling.

Hey Fox

Well depending of wether you speak French or Flemish depends who you need to speak too.

On the Dutch Forum speak to JoJo. He will tell you what you need and is also able to sell you parts at really good prices.

For information in French go the French Forum and speak to Babycash, he will be able to help.

wishbones and drop links are easy and cheap to replace so its not a big deal when your suspension starts knocking. dont worry about it.
